The next step in the evolution of desktop CPUs is the six core models from AMD and Intel. Several websites report that Intel accelerated the planned introduction of his Westmere based 6-core processor. Core i7-980X has six cores together with SMT, 32 nm process and 130 Watts TDP according to a leaked slide from Intel which look authentic. 12 MiB L3, Turbo Boost and socket LGA1366 are mentioned as well.
